As the entertainment centre of the home, dining rooms tend to be more dramatic spaces; it includes things that you usually don’t use in the rest of the rooms of the home such as leather floor tiles, marble tables, and chandeliers.

Most often, formal dining areas are in a separate room, while informal dining areas are more frequently attached to the living room or kitchen.
Tips for a perfect dinning room
• Before decorating the dining area, you should first determine the level of formality you’d like to achieve.
• Keep the shape of your space in mind. Is the room rectangular or is it square? The shape of the room will determine the shape of your dinning table. It is the centerpiece of your dining room furniture.
• To make sure that the furniture will fit, try plotting out the dimensions of the piece you’re considering in the room before you buy it.
• A comfortable chair encourages leisurely dining. Sturdy chairs with a solid back will support you. You can add seat cushions for additional comfort and an attractive look.
• Open-display pieces, such as baker’s racks, will highlight your personal design style. This will also allow you to take full advantage of vertical storage space.
• Decorating the whole room at once will make it easy to focus, plan, and budget.
• The best colors for the dining room are beige, cream, green, blue, and soft pastels such as lavender, pink, peach, and apricot. Add bright yellows, oranges, and warm reds to stimulate the palate.
• You can hire a professional, to help you design a road map to where you want to end up. It will help you find what will work for your space and what will suit your lifestyle.

The basic aim of a dining room is to provide an intimate setting for a social gathering among friends and family. When it comes to Feng Shui dining room, the dining room should provide an environment free of distraction to strengthen the aspects of your life including family and health. Here are few tips for your Feng Shui dining room.
The Yin personalities must interact with Yang personalities in a Feng Shui dining room. Implement decorations that appeal to you and your family’s taste and of course, are welcoming for your guests.
Choice of dining table: The main element of a Feng Shui dining room is undoubtedly the dining table. Choose a table that fits the size of your area. Make sure that there is enough room to walk around the table. The shape of a dining table can be either more yin or more yang. A round or square table is more yang and carries dynamic chi energy. An oval or rectangular table induces a more gentle energy, which is better for relaxing dinner. Make sure that the dining table you choose doesn’t have any hard edged corners. According to the principles of Feng Shui, a rounded table denotes heaven while a square or rectangular table is related to the Earth. A rounded table is preferable because it stimulates conversation. The surface of the dining table should be easy to clean. Wood is ideal because it doesn’t speed up chi energy. Softwoods such as elm are more yin which serve as the best option for everyday relaxed family meals. On the other hand, dark woods such as oak, teak and mahogany are more of yang and are best for formal dinners.
Placement: The dining table should be placed in the middle of the room so that your family sits comfortably around it. If your table is square in shape octagonal mats should be placed to stimulate chi.
The chairs: Even number of chairs is preferable for Feng Shui dining room. This is because the person sitting in the odd position will feel left out and unwanted. The chair should be very comfortable and should have a back. Since you are the host, you should never have your back to a door. The guests should be seated to face the door.
Lighting: Lighting also plays a crucial role in stimulating the flow of chi. Candles can be used as a source of decorative lighting but should not be the main source of lighting your Feng Shui dining room. Place a chandelier or overhead light in the centre and over the dining table.
Color of the room: The colors in your Feng Shui room should be appetizing. Light blue, lavender and green are good choices to stimulate the digestion. Orange is a no-no.
The accessories: A mirror on the wall or sideboard, reflecting the table, enhances the healthy chi energy produced by the food. Minimize the accessories as much as possible. A crystal chandelier over the center of the dining table will help to balance chi in the room. Remove all clocks and calendars so none of the time pressures from the day carry over into the meal. Use a tablecloth rather than individual placemats. This will bring closeness among the diners.

Study room needs a lot of positive energy and the concept of Feng Shui serves as the best source for the flow of positive Chi in your kid’s study room. Here are a few tips on how to design the study room according to Feng Shui principles.
First of all, the study room should be clutter-free. A messy room produces negative Chi which should be driven out from the Feng Shui study room. Since it is the place where all the creative work and studying is done by your child, you must ensure that there is as much positive Chi as possible in the room.
To realize the task, place the chair where no shelves are present. The chair should be very comfortable for your child to sit on. A chair having a high back is preferable. Next, place a picture of water behind the chair, which increases the flow of creative energy in the study room.
Place the desk in such a way that the window is on the left of the person sitting at the desk. In the absence of a window, placing a mirror on the left of the person is also a good idea. Your kid should be able to see the door when he is sitting at the desk. Your kid’s back should never be to the door.
Place a wind chime or a plant near the window. This will ensure that nothing threatening enters through the window. Bamboo and cactus symbolize good fortune. So, it is good to place them in the Feng Shui study room. The sharp leaves will warn-off harmful influences.
A Feng Shui study room will prove to be more fruitful for your little creative soul!

If your kid during his/her study time is staring at their textbooks in an upside-down position with their legs over the back of the sofa blasting sound coming from the television and keeping their cell phone in their ears, then the whole session is definitely not going to be much productive. This is because your child is not given the right studying space in his/her room. So, make the best study space for your kid so that s/he can really enjoy the study time. Follow a few tips for the best outcome.
The study desk:
First of all, provide your child with a desk. Make sure that the desk should be solid and well-constructed since children are really hard on furniture. The desk should be big, with a non-glare finish and should be comfortable.
The chair:
Comfort matters! The chair should be very comfortable with cushioned seats in bright colors and patterns so that it will be fun for your child to use the study space. Don’t use rollers or swivels in the chair. Plush chair should be strictly avoided because it may only promote sleepiness.
Storage:
Make sure that your child’s storage purposes are fully met. Provide your child with plastic boxes, shelves so that he could organize his stuff. Painted shelving and desk accessories, such as file cabinets, pencil holders, framed photographs and trash cans act as handsome enhancements that help to unify the space with the desired color scheme.
The color scheme:
Use warm colors such as oranges, reds and yellows, which help create a cheerful atmosphere. Paint the walls a few tones deeper than the carpet. This makes the study space appear more inviting.
Lighting:
Lighting defines the mood of any room. So, good lighting is very important for your child’s study space as well. Incident lighting is the basic requirement for a study space. The desk lamp should be fixed at a height that ensures that the glare is not directly into your child’s eyes.
The place for display:
It will be highly motivating for your kid if you provide a place to display his achievements- his artwork, his medals, his shields etc.
Finally, ask your child to keep his/her study space uncluttered.
A well organized and attractive study space will definitely help your child to have a better studying experience!
