You need to accomplish the task systematically. For this, you have to create a system for accumulating the dirty clothes, washing them and to carry out the drying process. The first step should be placing a portable laundry basket in every room of your home. Involve your spouse and kids to run the process smoothly. Ask them to toss down their dirty clothes in their respective hampers and tell them to assemble their baskets in the laundry room. If a hamper is placed in the room where changing in out of clothes takes place, they are more likely to be kept organized.

Consider this- you can save time by dividing the hampers into categories such as colors, whites, jeans, towels and delicates. Provide them the categorized laundry baskets so that they will dump their clothes according to the categories. So when you are getting ready to do a load of whites, you won’t have to find them, they will be their in their respective baskets!

That was the system for washable clothes. What about the clothes which need dry cleaning or are hand-washable? Hang a bag in the laundry room where these items can be placed.

In order to organize your stain-removing agents, detergent and fabric softeners, install shelves or cabinets that can be easily accessed from your machines.

Place a countertop at an appropriate level which is helpful for folding clothes and will keep you from getting a sore back from bending over time and again.

Organize the clothes straight from the dryer by hanging a bar on the wall. You can hang your shirts and slacks on the hanging bar.

Apart from laundry baskets, another hamper is needed to keep your laundry room organized. This is the “lost and found” basket in which you should keep the “found” items such as money, receipts, buttons and lipstick. Pairs of socks are often misplaced. So, hang a bulletin board for socks without their mates.
