How to remove patches in the wallpaper
![]() |
So you have opted for wallpapers, rather than painting your walls. Well, wallpapers do serve as one of the finest decorating ideas but, remember, old aged wallpapers are prone to wear and tear. The edges may loosen up and one fine day, you may notice dirty patches occurring in your wallpaper. How to remove the dirty patches? How to fix the tears? Want answers? Read on.
If the tears in the wallpapers are small, they can be re-glued and the tears can become unnoticeable. If you want to re-glue the loose edges of the wallpaper, moisten the area and lift the wallpaper away from the wall. Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the back of the wallpaper. Press the wallpaper back into the place, roll it and then sponge off the extra adhesive.
If the wallpaper is very dirty, test your wallpaper whether it is washable or not. Apply a mild detergent in a small section of the wallpaper. If the patch still looks dirty, replace the wallpaper. Look for mending kits in the stores. These often include small pieces of various color papers to match most of the walls. Select the piece which matches the pattern of your wallpaper. To fix the small piece, cut a square larger than the existing area which is to be patched. Align the pattern of the small piece and your wallpaper.
Attach the patch on the wall using masking tape. Use a seam roller to smooth it gently and affix it firmly in place.
