Do you find the dishwasher to be making unusual noise, unable to drain out water or water leaking from the dishwasher? Whatever the problem is, we have the quick tips ready for you. Read on and get to know various problems occurring in the dishwasher and their quick fixes. First of all, you should unplug the appliance from the mains. The hot-water supply valve located beneath the sink should be turned off. You should never work inside the dishwasher immediately following a wash cycle.
The dishwasher makes unusual noise: The unusual noise may be either coming from faulty parts or may be due to improperly loaded dishes. If the noise is caused by improper loading, read your dishwasher company’s manual to know the proper loading methods.
If faulty parts are creating the noise, look in the openings around the pump at the bottom of the dishwasher’s interior. They may be debris, fruit pits or bones. Make sure that the dishwasher is completely cool when you check for faults.
A thumping or chattering sound during the filling cycle usually indicates that the inlet valve needs to be replaced. If you are not used to this kind of repair, look for a repairperson to fix the problem.
The dishwasher doesn’t run: Before concluding that the dishwasher runs no more, check whether the power is on or not, the door is latched properly and control is turned on. If the power is on and the dishwasher doesn’t run, then there may be problem in the door switch, timer or the selector may be defective. To fix this problem, adjust the door latch’s strike slightly using a screwdriver. If that doesn’t serve the purpose, it is the time to call a mechanic.
The dishwasher doesn’t drain: If you find a small pool of clean water inside the tub after a cycle, it is not a problem. But, the water is excessively clogged in the dishwasher then the pump may be at fault. It may not be able to pump out the water properly. May be the drain hose isn’t carrying it to the drain pipe, or the house’s drain lines are backed up.
To fix the problem, shut off the power supply to the dishwasher once the dishwasher becomes cool. Then remove the strainer (located under the bottom spray arm at the base of the cabinet). Unscrew the hubcap, lift the spray arm off, and remove any clips that hold the strainer to get it out. Scrub it clean with a brush, and then replace it.
These were some of the common problems occurring in the dishwasher. Follow the tips and ensure that you don’t encounter such problems in the future.
