Installation of ceramic tiles on floor is not a simple process as it seems. It is a task that requires proper planning, care and effort. In most cases the rooms aren’t exactly square, that makes the laying of tiles a difficult job. It thus becomes important to make proper planning before taking into consideration the size, shape and square size of your room. Never make any cutting on the visible spot of the tile as it may destroy the beauty of the tile. The elimination of the cutting along one wall by changing the width of the grout lines by a little bit is possible and it should be done in that way to minimize the destruction of beauty.

It would be a better, if you start the planning by checking the size of the room and how much square it is. Now, place a tile firmly in each of the four corners of the room. Just draw a chalk line from the outside corner of each tile to the tile in the next corner as marking. This will help in understanding the variations in size and arrangement of the room. The starting of the work should be done from on square of the room, which will make it easy and perfect.

It should be taken take to install full sized tiles at parts that are visible. The broken tiles will give an awkward look here. The cut tiles could be placed at the area that is covered with furniture, as it won’t be noticed by others. You can place full tile along two walls and cut tiles on only two walls to give a designed look.

Once after making the decision about the place to begin the work, just strike guide lines using a chalk. Allow for the width of the grout lines too. Keep a grout line at the wall too. After the completion of the first row, maintain the spacing with regular tile spacers, by keeping a regular check with a square to keep the courses straight. Cutting tiles at the opposite walls may pose as a challenge, requiring a careful measuring and cutting. A proper and careful planning and preparation will definitely provide the floor a professional look.
