Ceramic floor tiles are very attractive flooring as well as score for their hard surface and durability. Ceramic floor tiles require low maintenance especially in terms of keeping the surface spick and span. However, you can’t completely negate the need for regular cleaning and maintenance of ceramic floor tiles because the grout between tiles absorbs all of the dirt, spills, and stains that slide off the tiles. When your grout is dirty or discolored, it doesn’t matter how clean your tiles are; your floor will have a dirty appearance. Here are few cleaning tips to keep your ceramic floor tiles really clean. Read on.
The cleaning supplies required for cleaning the ceramic floor tiles are:
• Dust Mop or Broom
• Clean Water on a Damp Mop
• Cup Rubbing Alcohol in 2 Gallons of Water
• General Household Cleaners (Lysol, etc) Diluted in Water
• Only for Stubborn Stains or Serious Sanitizing: Full Strength Household Cleaner OR a Weak Bleach Solution.
You should know that you have the right mop with you. Sponge mops won’t serve the purpose because they are too soft to wipe off the dirt. Go for wet swiffer and disposable cloth mops. But, even they won’t reach the grout. Put down this idea as well. So, what you should do is get a mop that has cloth strips or a cotton mop with coiled yarns.
As far as the cleaner is concerned, look for a stronger solution to use on the tiles if the grout is really very dirty. Lysol and cleaners with similar ingredients are best to use for thorough cleaning of the grout. Dilute the cleaner with hot or warm water. However, too strong solution may leave little crusty white messes clinging to the grout. So, clean the tiles using plain water after you finish cleaning it with the diluted solution.
