Different types of wood are used for floors, including hard woods and other types of wood. The choice of the wood depends up on the choice of the user and the décor of the home. There is no issue over the usage of wood in any room barring bathrooms and kitchens. The wooden floors are not suitable for these two rooms as the moisture in these two can cause it to warm.
Options in Wood Flooring Most among the users’ prefer hardwoods for the flooring. There are a number of different hardwoods available in the market which is suitable for floors, including, cherry, oak, maple, hickory, Bellwood and walnut. Available in different colours and design, they give a feel of comfort to the floor.
The prefinished wood is an ideal option for purchasing as it already has the stain and protective coating. It is a bit expensive, but is more convenient. It would be better if the installing of wood flooring is considered first and then finishing the wood when it is installed. Here you may need to sand down the floor, apply stain and then a layer of urethane to protect the floor. After every coat you may need to sand the floor which will take a span of at least two days. If so particular about the protection, more coats of urethane can be applied.
The wooden floor can be moped occasionally, in case of getting dirty. But take care not to use lot of water as it may damage the wooden floor.
