Comments Tips for Easy Replacement of Toilet Seat
![]() |
Without toilet, any bathroom is incomplete. Even if the seat is cracked, rusted or falling apart, toilet seat replacement is a dirty job. But we are giving a few tips that will make the replacement easy. Step #1: Gather the Tools It is always important to ensure that you carry all necessary tools along with you before beginning the task. You may need an adjustable wrench, a standard screwdriver, pliers, an additional Phillips head screwdriver, a hacksaw, painters or masking tape and penetrating oil for replacement.
Step #2: Purchase a Replacement Seat It is necessary to determine that the replacement seat actually fits. You should make it sure that the length, width and height are accurate. Most seats arrive in circles or elongated ovals. Just make sure that you choose the seat that suits your preference.
If you have any colour preference, you can go for it. For a bolder style, rich, dark colour such as black, burgundy or hunter green will be perfect.
Step #3: Remove the Current Seat To remove the seat, close the toilet. Loosen the nuts on the bolts with an adjustable wrench. Be careful while doing this. They can be rusted or corroded.
In case of having any difficulty in loosening the nuts, take the help of pliers to hold the bolt steady. Apply penetrating oil for very difficult nuts.
Step #4: Clean the Area Prior to the installation of the seat, dispose the old seat as it may have germs. Now, it is time to wipe away rust stains or other debris from the toilet area.
Step #5: Install a New Seat you can now install the seat. Make the alignment of the seat correctly. Insert the two bolts that fasten the seat to the toilet. It would be better to coat the existing bolts with petroleum jelly juts to avoid hassle next time. Now as the final step, apply the plastic caps to cover the ends of the bolts.
