Fixing a broken window pane is no more a daunting task. All you need to do is make some quick purchases and follow these simple steps. At the end of the task, you will wonder if the window had really undergone any replacement at all! Read on.
Drive down to a hardware store to buy a replacement cord. Use a plaited type cord made of plastic. Make sure that the cord is rot proof. Now, start the work of replacing the broken window.
Use a stop beading that holds the inner sash of the window in position. Now, raise it off with a screwdriver close to the nails. When the cord is intact on the inner sash, cut it and lower the weight. Next, lift out the sash from the window frame. In order to remove the upper sash of the window, raise off the parting beading slotted into the window frame.
The next thing to do is remove the broken window from its frame. Pull out both the sections of the broken window. Once the broken window has been completely removed, pluck out the nails holding the remains of the sash cords to the cord channels and then lever out the small covers. Remove any remaining cord.
The new cord should be fed over the pulley and down to the bottom of the weight channel. You may find that the pulley is not revolving freely. To ensure smooth movement of the pulley, you need to lubricate it with a drop of oil. If paint is blocking the movement of pulley, scrape it away.
If all the four cords of the broken window have been replaced, fit back the window into its frame.
This way, you can replace a broken window without wasting much time.

It is highly irritating to find a year’s accumulation of irritants flying into the air when you start cleaning your home intensively. It becomes even more torturous when you are allergic to those substances. But, we say that the spring cleaning “exercise” can be a lot of fun! How? Read on our tips and you will also justify the daunting task.
Precautionary measure is the one-word answer. By preventing being exposed to the irritants, you can make the task safer. Here are they.
Ventilation: Proper ventilation is essential to keep away the dust miles from directly attacking you. Open as many windows as possible and then start the cleaning task.
Face mask: Wearing a face mask is half the job done because the protective gear reduces the exposure to dust mites, moulds and other allergens.
Damp cloth: Feather dusters are good for removing the dust, but not for your tender nose, as they only fluff up all the dust mites into the air.
Filter on your vacuum: Search for a vacuum filter that can trap very minute particles including dust mite feces and pollen. We suggest you to go for HEPA vacuum filters.
Timing: You should do the intense cleaning before pollination begins.

Decorative concrete ideas are now not reserved only for the expensive homes and elite estates. These artistic decorations are cropping up everywhere. Few decades ago when we talked about renovating the fireplace, beautifying the walk ways and outdoor areas, our choices were limited to bricks, blocks, rock and cement combined with few other items. Things have changed over the years. Today, decorative concrete is used to create a wall that is identical to a wall of flagstone rock installed for the fireplace set up.
These decorative concrete are readily available in the stores at a better price with long lasting durability, custom feel and look. They are used as decorative items for both indoors and outdoors.
If you want to have something more warm and inviting, bring in various types of tiles or materials and have them set. We would suggest you a better option- the decorative concrete. Use them to realize a cozier look to your home. These decorative concretes come in a variety of colors, textures, and stamps. They create the same effect of the much expensive stamped tiles. These concretes can be stored in much less work and time and create a very beautiful and custom finish.

Stripping paint is very mind-numbing and time consuming. If you want to make the task interesting and easier, you need to follow these tips. Read on.
First of all, get yourself equipped with all the supplies. Get a chemical paint stripper, protective gear for you including rubber gloves, goggles, long sleeves and pants. Do not forget to spread newspaper or strips of plastics on adjacent areas to avoid any spillover.
If you are using an old paint brush, apply coat of stripper compound and then leave until the paint softens. Next, with the help of paint stripper knife or shave hook tool, scratch the paint off gently. If you have removed all the paint, clean the wood using paint thinner. If you don’t have paint thinner, cold water will serve the purpose.
You can also use an electric paint stripper to strip the paint. This is better than the old paint brush because it is a very handy tool. When the element in the tool gets heated up, hold it at a certain distance from the paint to soften it up. This tool is very useful to strip off stubborn paint.
Another good option is the kerosene blow torch. You should take enough precautions while using this tool because the material is highly inflammable. When you hold the torch to burn the paint chips, ensure that you don’t hold the torch at one place for a longer time. You should keep it moving. Apply the heat by moving the flame across the paint until it blisters and softens in a small area. Then remove the flame. Scrape away the soften paint using stripper knife or shave hook.
This way, make the stripping task easier and interesting!
