Getting a new pet is a huge decision especially if you haven’t ever had one before. It is true that a pet can provide you companionship and emotional support, but you also need to realize that the animal will need the same from you. You need to understand that an animal is a living creature and needs to be nurtured and taken care of 24 X 7.

Once you have decided on the type you need to carefully prepare your home. Just like with a baby, you need to pet proof your home, you’ll need to make sure they will not get hurt on anything within your home.

Make sure to ready a sleeping area for your new pet as well as a feeding and litter area. Find out where the nearest Vet is and what emergency facilities are available there. If you live alone or work long hours or travel you will need someone to watch over your pet.
Getting a pet may sound like a hassle, but believe me the joy of having one makes all the trouble worthwhile.

So you are having pets, right? Then you can’t escape the food stains, puddle of urine, and spills of your pets which cause havoc in your home. Follow a few tips to steer clear the stains and odor.
Urine:
• Soak the urine with a towel. Blot but don’t rub.
• Rinse the area with water.
• Blot the area once again using clean towels.

Vomit:
• Scoop up the solid particles immediately.
• Add a bit of water.
• Apply a thin layer of salt or baking soda.
• Let it dry.
• Vacuum the area.
• If the stains remain, pour club soda on the area and blot with paper towels.

Pet hair:
• Place an easy-to-wash soft towel or blanket in the favorite spots of your pet. This will help absorb the odor and catch the fur.
• Wipe dog and cat hair off the furniture and clothes using rubber gloves.

Blood stains:
• Pour cold water.
• Apply hydrogen peroxide to the stained area, letting it bubble. Repeat this until stain is gone.
• Blob the area with water and let it dry.

Eyesight weakness is a major problem when your dog is ageing. Keep small gates at strategic places so that your dog won’t fall and injure himself.
