Comments Check the Leak in Your Car
![]() |
You pull out your car from the garage and you find that some fluid is leaking from the car! How can you tell whether it is break fluid leak, power steering fluid leak or just the water from your air conditioner? Let’s find out. Read on: • Place a white cardboard under your car on the spot where you noticed a leak. Leave it for few hours. • After the fluid gets deposited on the sheet, identify the color, texture and odor of the fluid. • Oily and black: It is the engine oil. If the puddle is larger than a silver dollar, call the mechanic. • Oily and red: It is the transmission fluid. • Slightly oily, green or yellow: This is likely a coolant system leak. • Clear and oily: The fluid leaking from your car may be the brake fluid. • Clear but not oily: This is perhaps the water leaking either from the air conditioner or it is the windshield washer fluid.
