 We all dream to have houses that are most beautiful and vibrant as ever, don’t we? And in the process of doing so, we end up over-adorning our homes sometimes. A few mistakes can sometime spoil the beauty of our interiors. Here are a few common ones:
Stuffing the room with too much furniture
If you put too much furniture in a room which is already small, it can further make your room look cluttered or even smaller. You should always buy furniture with dimensions of the room in mind to ensure that it absolutely fits in the space and your needs as well. While spacing the furniture in your room, be sure that you allow the room to breathe easily enough. This is so because the look and feel of your room can make a major difference on how your family and friends would find the place.
Less lighting
Lighting is one of the most essential features of any room. A brightly lit room can greatly enhance the ambience by bringing in a feeling of welcomeness. You can do it by adding lamps or use track lighting. Using overhead light fixtures are also a wonderful way of dispersing light in the room.
Room’s design should not be very cohesive
It is a must to repeat the colors throughout the room to make the whole design of the room flow and come together. An ideal way would be to either choose a color from the sofa or pillows on the couch to match it with the curtains draping the windows. If you feel that the shades of your drapes is more appealing you can use a color from them to add color to the couch or buy a vase in the same color. Paintings with similar background color can also be used as well.
Hanging pictures and mirrors at too great a height

Sometimes we tend to hang pictures too high on the walls. The idea is to have them at an eye level, so that they can be shown prominently on the walls. This however is a wrong notion. Ideally, the center of the art should be 5 to 5-1/2 feet from the floor, so that they will be at a level where you can see them properly without too much effort. Thus the idea is to help you display your art or special pieces of artifacts by hanging them at a level where they will become a focal point on your walls.
Don’t be a miser while choosing colors

Many of us have inhibitions while choosing colors that are bright such as they crimsons, pastel blues, greens and chromes. The most common shade we usually see on the walls is a neutral tan, cream or a white color. Well, only if you unleash your fears for a moment and envision your room in some vibrant hue, you’ll realize that a bright color can render a unique personality to your room décor. In order to choose a color for the same, pick a shade which is in contrast to your drapes or your pillows and even accessories used in the room. By choosing a color from a piece that you like, you are almost assured of having a wall color that you will like.
Your home is your heaven, the place where your heart stays, where you find solace from the pressures of the daily activities. Nevertheless a zing of color and beauty can greatly add to the look and feel of your interiors, making it brighter and the air blither. • The very first thing to consider is the position of your wooden furniture. It should never be exposed to direct sunlight as it dries out wood.
• Use sheer curtains on windows to shield decorating and furniture from sunlight, and use either a humidifier or de-humidifier as needed to keep the air in the room from becoming too dry or too damp.
• Polish your wooden furniture once a week with a quality polish to protect from damage. You should be very careful while selecting the furniture polish. It should not contain silicone or alcohol since the basic nature of alcohol can damage the finish.
• Place a table pad on top of the table when not in use.
• Use a table cloth when serving hot dishes.
• Use wooden coaster to prevent stains from water rings.
• If candle wax drips onto your wooden table, let it cool and harden. Then place an ice cube on the wax and leave for sometime. The wax will become brittle, and then use a plastic spatula to gently scrape the wax off. Polish table using cream furniture polish and clean cloth.
• You can easily hide the scratches developed in the furniture by using a scratch cover product. Take a clean cloth, apply the product on it and rub gently over the scratch.
• Last but not the least dust your furniture regularly using a soft cloth or a vacuum cleaner with a dust brush attachment. This will keep the build up of dirt to a minimum and help prevent scratches and ground-in grime.
