Your ability to work hard and earn a good income will suffer as a result of poor nourishment. Hence, keep your kitchen free of clutter which is the very first step to design a Feng Shui kitchen. To realize this, clear the stored stale food from the freezer. Clean your food cupboards and refrigerator regularly.

The key element of your kitchen is undoubtedly the stove. Stove symbolizes wealth. If any part of the stove in working badly (burners, fan, oven light), replace it ASAP!

Make sure your stove placement allows the cook to have full view of the entire room. The cook should not face the wall while cooking. Place a mirror over the stove burner. This allows the cook the cook to have a full view of the kitchen, and can see all who enter without having to take her eyes off the stove.

Fresh cut flowers uplift the energy to your kitchen. A vase of fresh flowers on your kitchen table, windowsill is always welcoming and gives a positive energy to the cook to make delicious and nourishing cuisine. A bowl of fruits, preferably big oranges are also energizers to your kitchen. Place them in the kitchen table.

A very important thing in Feng Shui kitchen is the placement of the stove and sink. Since fire and water fight each other, place something green between the sink and the stove, say a live plant on a table in the centre of your kitchen. This ensures that arguments and conflicts do not occur in your family because fire and water are directly opposite each other.

Open up your kitchen space. Add mirrors above and around the stove. This will expand the appearance of the area. Hang a plant or a wind chime in the doorways, and place mirrors at opposite ends of the kitchen walk-through, to enable chi to flow unhampered through the narrow kitchen and into your home.

Feng Shui dining room tips

Feng Shui dining room tipsThe basic aim of a dining room is to provide an intimate setting for a social gathering among friends and family. When it comes to Feng Shui dining room, the dining room should provide an environment free of distraction to strengthen the aspects of your life including family and health. Here are few tips for your Feng Shui dining room.
The Yin personalities must interact with Yang personalities in a Feng Shui dining room. Implement decorations that appeal to you and your family’s taste and of course, are welcoming for your guests.
Choice of dining table: The main element of a Feng Shui dining room is undoubtedly the dining table. Choose a table that fits the size of your area. Make sure that there is enough room to walk around the table. The shape of a dining table can be either more yin or more yang. A round or square table is more yang and carries dynamic chi energy. An oval or rectangular table induces a more gentle energy, which is better for relaxing dinner. Make sure that the dining table you choose doesn’t have any hard edged corners. According to the principles of Feng Shui, a rounded table denotes heaven while a square or rectangular table is related to the Earth. A rounded table is preferable because it stimulates conversation. The surface of the dining table should be easy to clean. Wood is ideal because it doesn’t speed up chi energy. Softwoods such as elm are more yin which serve as the best option for everyday relaxed family meals. On the other hand, dark woods such as oak, teak and mahogany are more of yang and are best for formal dinners.

Placement: The dining table should be placed in the middle of the room so that your family sits comfortably around it. If your table is square in shape octagonal mats should be placed to stimulate chi.

The chairs: Even number of chairs is preferable for Feng Shui dining room. This is because the person sitting in the odd position will feel left out and unwanted. The chair should be very comfortable and should have a back. Since you are the host, you should never have your back to a door. The guests should be seated to face the door.

Lighting: Lighting also plays a crucial role in stimulating the flow of chi. Candles can be used as a source of decorative lighting but should not be the main source of lighting your Feng Shui dining room. Place a chandelier or overhead light in the centre and over the dining table.

Color of the room: The colors in your Feng Shui room should be appetizing. Light blue, lavender and green are good choices to stimulate the digestion. Orange is a no-no.

The accessories: A mirror on the wall or sideboard, reflecting the table, enhances the healthy chi energy produced by the food. Minimize the accessories as much as possible. A crystal chandelier over the center of the dining table will help to balance chi in the room. Remove all clocks and calendars so none of the time pressures from the day carry over into the meal. Use a tablecloth rather than individual placemats. This will bring closeness among the diners.

Cold colors such as blue or gray shades bring a sense or insecurity to your child. So, they should be avoided. However, too bright colors are not recommended for your child’s bedroom.

The choice of color also depends upon the basic nature of your child. If your child is very active, choose warm light and relaxing colors such as beiges or very light oranges. If your child is too quiet, go for warm orange or yellow colors.

The wall: The center wall in your kid’s room is the fame area, where you allow space to display his achievements. Make your child feel proud of him. Provide enough space to display his trophies, awards, paintings or any other achievements. A bulletin board is necessary for the display of school papers.

Feng Shui stairways tips

Feng Shui stairways tipsStairs act like a door to the upper levels of your home. The steps in the staircase may also project as a potential source of danger because it is easy to slip and stumble down the stairs and get you hurt. Here comes the useful element of Feng Shui. Design the staircase with the element of Feng Shui as to let the flow of positive chi through your stairways. Here are a few tips for your Feng Shui stairways.

The position: The position of the stairway is crucial. If your stairway is placed in the wrong place, this can deflect Chi in the wrong direction. Wrong placements include stairway right opposite the front door. This way, the Chi will enter your home, rush through the upstairs and as a result, your ground floor will lack Chi.

To correct this, use wind chimes, mirrors or potted plants and screens on the stairs. This will slow down the rushing of Chi.

The type: The risers which are actually not steps in the stairway will hinder the flow of Chi to the second floor. In order to allow Chi flowing into the second floor, place plants underneath the stairs.

Curved stairways are the best option for Feng Shui stairways. These are regarded as the most auspicious.

Too many stairs will cause Chi to fluctuate. So, the stairs should be solid and the number of steps should be less, preferably in odd numbers. There should be no opening at the back of each stair because it allows Chi to escape and it won’t move to the second floor.

Last but not the least it is the cleanliness of the stairs which decides whether your Chi should flow around or not. Your stairs should always be clean. People will stumble moving up and down the stairs if the stairs are not properly lit. Hence, the stairs should also be well lit.

Feng Shui bathroom tips

Feng Shui bathroom tipsIn Feng Shui bathroom, you can actually avoid any negative energy coming your way. Follow some universal principles in keeping your bathroom miles apart from all the bad drain energy they produce. Here are some tips for your Feng Shui bathroom.

The location: If you have a two-storey building then your bathroom should never be located right above the main house door or its wall. Your Feng Shui bathroom should not be visible from the main door of the house. Bathroom should face neither your bedroom nor your kitchen. The bathroom should not share their walls as well because all these elements bring negative energy to the residents.

Door and the seat: Always put the seat down and the door closed to keep the energy inside the bathroom. People have found it practically impossible to keep the doors closed because you need to let the steam out after a shower. Many bathrooms get a musky type smell when the bathroom door is kept close for a long time. However, if you want to let the positive Chi remain intact in your bathroom, it is recommended to keep the door closed.

If you don’t want to keep your door opened, place a plant on top of the toilet itself. Plants deflect the bad drain energy and add life force to your bathroom. Wind chimes by the window will also serve the purpose.

Colors: The ideal colors for your Feng Shui bathroom are earthy shades of brown or yellow. Therefore, the earth element in the colors would absorb the water element keeping it in the room and allowing its beneficial effects to remain in the house and be continuous for the people living in it.

The interiors: The toilet seat and the bathtub should have some space between them to allow the Chi to flow around. The windows should not be located directly in front of the door.

This way, design your Feng Shui bathroom and let the positive Chi flow into one of the relaxing rooms of your home!
