Comment How to Build a Darkroom
![]() |
Printing their own pictures at home is one of the most rewarding experiences for people who are passionate about photography. If you are one among them, it becomes necessary to have your own darkroom, that is, the photo lab at your home. In this article we give you a step-by-step tutorial for building a darkroom at your home.
• First of all, find out a place in your home that can be converted into a darkroom. A spare room or a spare bathroom can act as the best spot to create the dark room set up. • Choose a cool, DARK place that is well ventilated so that it is comfortable for working. • Your darkroom should be free of loop holes where leaking light can pass through. Seal them off. • When you have created the right dark room atmosphere, buy the necessary supplies for the development of films and photos. You will need an enlarger, few middle-sized trays (one each for developer solution, stop solution and the fix solution), easel tongs, developer fix and solution. • Divide the dark room into two parts- the wet one and the dry one. This is to avoid mistakes that can creep in when you are developing the photos.
