Make sure that the bottom of your pans is flat-bottomed and makes good contact with the burner. If you are using electric burners, turn them off when you reach the end of cooking time. Keep lids on pans as you cook. Glass lids for pans are good options because they facilitate to keep an eye on what you are preparing. Use glass and ceramic pans for baking purposes. This way, you can reduce the temperature of the oven by 25 degrees. Pressure cookers are also preferable while cooking because they reduce the use of energy by 50 to 75 percent.

Appliances: Microwave ovens score more as compared to conventional ovens because they take lesser cooking times. Microwave ovens also produce less heat during summers. So, use of microwave is recommended.

If the foods are frozen, they will take much time and energy to get heated up. So, defrost the frozen foods in the refrigerator in order to reduce the cooking time. Defrosting frozen foods in the refrigerator will reduce cooking time.
