How to Remove Wallpaper

WallpaperCant figure out when was the last time you changed/ removed the wallpaper? And now that you have finally decided to give it a try, you deciphered that you genuinely lack the skill. Here’s how to go about it:

1. Move all your furniture away from the walls and cover them with sheets.

2. Start from any edge of the wallpaper and try to peel it off with your hands or a wallpaper scraper.

3. If the paper doesn’t peel off, or try to slash the paper lightly using a razor blade or a wallpaper-scoring tool. Be careful not to cut into the drywall or plaster underneath.

4. Apply plain water mixed with a mild household soap (generous amount) on the walls using a paint roller, squirt gun or large sponge. Continue the process till the glue loosens and the paper washes off.

5. Wash away as much of the glue as possible, until you are down to the original painted or primed wall. Lastly, when the wall is dry, use some sandpaper to get rid of remaining paper particles.

Organize your clothes’ closet

Organize your clothes’ closetThe indication of good storage system in your home is that you have maximized the storage space for storing items. If this is not done then there is no use of having many closets which are not well-organized. Learn the art of organizing the closets first and then count on the number of storage spaces you are having at your home. So let us start with your biggest disaster- the clutter clothing closet! Read on and follow the instructions about how to organize your clothes closet.
The very first thing to do is to remove all the clothes stuffed into your closet.

When empty your closet, you will realize that the closet was actually over-flowing with excess piles of clothes. Take out the clutter. Don’t panic when you empty the closet and find that your pile of junk is sitting on your floor, bed and sofa.

Now, get rid of the unwanted items out of the pile. Make the task easier. Divide items into bins. Gather four bins from your local discount store and label as “Keep bin”, “throw away bin” and “sell and donate bin”.

Keep Bin: The hard and fast rule for deciding what items to keep is to look at how often you wear/use the item. For clothes, any item you have not worn more than twice in the last year should not be included.

Throw Away Bin: Some of your possessions are probably ripped, stained, or broken. So any item that is 100% unsalvageable should go directly into the Throw Away Bin.

Sell and Donate Bin : This bin will be the heaviest, because chances are that most of your stuff isn’t ruined, just out of style or ill-fitting. If it’s been over a year since you’ve fit into the garment, donate it. We strongly suggest that you give as much of your stuff as possible to goodwill - it’ll make you feel good!

Now it is the time to sort out the clothes in the “Keep bin”. You can do this easily! All you need to do is again sort the clothes into two categories- the season category and the type category.

Separate all of your clothes in the season category into summer, winter and spring. The winter stuff will include your heavy jackets, summer stuff will include swimsuits.

Now come to the type category. Start by getting all of your professional clothes together. Don’t forget to include any outfits you might wear on an office casual day. This will make getting dressed in the morning so easy that you’ll be able to hit your sleep button five times instead of four. The next type of clothing you’ll want to separate is special occasion outfits. The last pile to organize is your casual stuff. These items range from your weekend wear to stuff only your dog should ever see you in.

This way, organize your closet and see, you have actually maximized the storage space!

Surprise your visitors!

visitors.jpgAre guests coming to your home on a short notice? Don’t go crazy if your home is unprepared to welcome your visitors. Follow some tricks, beautify your home and surprise the visitors!
1- Make it sparkly clean: Gather all your cleaning appliances and start cleaning the important parts of your house which often look messy. Clean and scrub your bathroom, kitchen sink, tubs and showers. Use a cleaning cloth or scrub brush for the purpose. Wipe down the oven and fridge. Don’t forget to clean your toilet.

2- Clear glass: A thin film is okay. But the guest will notice if your mirrors and glassware have smudges. Clean with glass cleaner and a clean cloth to make them shining.

3- Vacuum all of your floors: If the carpets are dirty, they will give a stale smell that will keep circulating through the air conditioning system. Vacuum clean your carpets.

4- Furniture: Dust your furniture to make them spotless.

5- Dump your dirty clothes in a basket: Put cloth baskets in every room. Dump your dirty clothes in them. Wash all dirty sheets, towels and clothes. Dry and put them away.

6- Cobwebs: Cobwebs hide behind your light fixtures only to come out when guests are there. Knock down all cobwebs.

7- Bed sheets and curtains: Put clean sheets on the beds. Change the dirty curtains.

8- Dustbins: Guests often generate trash. If you don’t want them to leave it on the floor, provide them a garbage bag to dispose off the litter.

9- Air freshener: Add air fresheners in rooms that need them.

Whether it’s your relatives or friends, if you want to impress people, make your home neat as a new pin and let them know that you are a man who knows true hospitality.
